Summerside Eagle Updates

Weekly Parent Update

Summerside Eagle
Dear Summerside Families,
We kicked off the 2026 - 2027 school year with a lot of smiles, celebrations, and opportunities for students and staff to connect and get back into new school routines and expectations. We hope all continue to settle into the new routines at home as well, reading every night, checking your child's yellow Summerside communication folder, and taking time to connect as you set up for the next day together!

Thank you to all who are following our arrival and dismissal procedures. The front car line is doing a great job staying in a single lane until an adult is there to direct traffic into two lanes during arrival. We are continuing to get to know our car line and bus route needs and will continue to adjust accordingly. During dismissal, cars can continue to move around to the preK, first grade, and kindergarten lanes until 3:50 and then remain in a single-file line. Our second - fifth grade families fill in the first two lanes but need to remain in the single-file line to avoid blocking traffic.

Thank you to all bus riders as these first few days/weeks are filled with route tweaks and changes at the district and building level. We will continue to notify you via Parent Square these first few days so you know when to expect them to arrive at their assigned bus stop.

We hope all of our Eagles have had a great first full week of school and will look forward to seeing them all back on Monday!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Mrs. Edwards

Arrival Procedures for all Preschool - Fifth Grade Students and Families

Students who arrive at school on a bus will be invited to unload as early as 8:50 am if they are eating breakfast. All others will remain on the bus until 9:18 am, when we unload to bring students into the school.
Our front entrance is reserved for our parent drop-off car line. If you are planning to drive your child to school this year, all cars are to remain in a single-lane line along our yellow curb lane in front of the building, following the flow of traffic to ensure we are not blocking traffic at any time, to allow parents who wish to drop their children off in the morning for breakfast.
Once there are school staff present out front at 9:15 am to direct traffic, we will direct parents to move into a two-lane drop-off system.

Please stay in a single-file line until directed, moving at a slow speed throughout our parking lot to ensure everyone’s safety.
A few key points to keep everyone safe in our car line in the morning:
  • Students should have their backpacks on and ready to get out of the right side of the car.
  • Parents should remain in their car unless a student needs support unbuckling.
  • Students unload from their car at the start of the yellow curb.
  • Parents are not to park to walk their child up to the front door unless agreed upon with a building administrator, and procedures are reviewed. If you have to park for a unique situation, please remain in the parking lot until both lines of traffic are stopped before stepping onto the middle easement to allow traffic to flow safely.
  • Our car line should not move until directed by staff.
  • Stay in your lane at all times.

Breakfast* will be served beginning at 8:50 am in the cafeteria. Parents are permitted to use the second lane on the left to pull to the front of the building to drop off their child to eat breakfast. There will be a staff member at the front door starting at 8:50 am to monitor the unloading for breakfast. Please do not drop your child off earlier than 8:50 am.

Please be mindful of moving vehicles and students walking at all times.

Students are considered tardy if they arrive after 9:25 a.m. If your child is tardy, an adult needs to walk them into the office and sign them in for the day before they will be released to go to their classroom. Your child must have an adult with them when arriving or leaving early.

Dismissal Procedures

Parent Pick-Up Procedures for all Preschool - Fifth Grade Students and Families
All West Clermont students are assigned a bus route to get home safely, and we highly encourage all to use our district-provided transportation every day. If you choose to pick your child up from school, please make note of the following procedures to ensure everyone's safety:

  • Dismissal begins at 3:45 for preschool students and 3:55 for K-5 students.
  • Please pull into your designated lanes as noted on the map using the right lane first until filled, and then fill the left lane. This will allow traffic to continue to flow through our lot until our dismissal.
  • We send siblings down the lane with the youngest student in our building.

Kindergarten: The first two lanes are reserved for families whose youngest is in kindergarten. You may go around the single-file lane in our driveway to get into your assigned lane from 3:40 - 3:45 pm. After that time, please remain in a single-file lane on Edwilla Drive.

Preschool: The next lane in our parking lot (the third lane from the building, on the right) is for preschool families only.

First Grade: The fourth lane in our parking lot (left lane) is for families whose youngest are in the first grade and for families with siblings in preschool. You may go around the single-file lane in our driveway to get into your assigned lane from 3:40 - 3:45 pm. After that time, please remain in a single file lane on Edwilla Drive.

Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Graders: The furthest two lanes (lanes 5 & 6) are reserved for those whose youngest is in second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. Please do not go around traffic, as this will quickly block the first two lanes entering our parking lot. You will know if there is room in your assigned lanes to join, and if not, please remain in a single-file lane.

  • If all lanes are filled once you arrive, remain in a single-file line along Edwilla Drive. We will move all of our second-round cars along the red curb lane closest to the building once we move the first line of cars.

We ask that you remain in your car, putting your car in park until cleared for take-off.

Students are only released to those with a car tag or to those who have an ID and are listed with permission to pick up.

If you already noted that your child will be a car rider when registering them, there is NO action needed. We already have a car tag ready for you to pick up at Open House.

If you noted that they will ride the bus but would like to request car tags because you will be picking them up on a routine basis, please complete the following form by Monday, 8/10/26 at 12:00 pm in order to pick up your car tags at Open House. If you miss this deadline, you can stop at the office during business hours after Open House.
Please only complete once per family.

Only custodial parents will be permitted to pick up your two tags and bag numbers with an ID..
