Summerside Eagle Updates

Weekly Parent Update

Summerside Eagle
Dear Summerside Families,
It was a great first full week with all of our Summerside Eagles, Preschool - Fifth Grade, filled with building relationships, new routines, and expectations. We hope all continue to settle into the new routines at home as well, reading every night, checking your child's yellow Summerside communication folder, and taking time to connect as you set up for the next day together!
Thank you to our car riders for doing an INCREDIBLE job following our arrival and dismissal procedures! This has been the best start in supporting our safe procedures and we truly appreciate your attention to the adults working hard to keep all safe!!
  • A reminder that students are to remain inside the car at all times until they exit the car door. We are seeing more students hanging outside of windows and sunroofs in the morning, which is not safe or legal and truly adds stress to the work we are doing to keep all safe.
  • During dismissal, please make certain your child is fully buckled prior to leaving our car line per state law.
Thank you to our bus riding families for your patience as we continue to get to know new bus stops, routines, and the expectations for arriving at the bus stop 5 - 10 minutes prior to your assigned time. Please see more insight about the Ohio Revised Code for continued successful access to our transportation services.
We practiced our first safety fire drill of the school year this week. We are fortunate to partner with our first responders who come on site during our practice to give support and feedback on how we can continue to keep everyone safe and be prepared. You can ask your child about how they took great care of themselves and others when the fire alarm went off and they exited the building.
We hope all of our Eagles have had a great first full week of school and will look forward to seeing them all back on Monday!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney & Mrs. Edwards

Personal Devices at School Are NOT Permitted

A reminder to all that personal devices are not permitted at school for students in preschool through fifth grade, as noted in our WC Student/Parent Handbook. As noted, "Students are prohibited from using cell phones at all times. If other technology is connected to a cell phone (earbuds, smartwatches, etc.) and is being used to access cell phone functions, that device is also not permitted under these new requirements." We have seen more personal tracking devices this school year that fall under this policy and state law that need to remain at home. Thank you for your help with following this policy and state law to keep all safe and focused on learning!
