Weekly Parent Update

Dear Summerside Families,

It was a short but powerful week at Summerside, filled with a lot of opportunities to connect and work together! Thank you to all who were able to join for our Kindergarten Meet the Teacher night. We hope the evening was helpful and continued to bring the insight needed to know how much we care about your children and appreciate our partnership in helping your child learn and grow. September is Attendance Awareness Month. See below for more insight about our Stay in the Game Attendance Pledge and celebration for all who come to school each day when healthy and able. This pledge is due by Friday, September 18th.

Be sure to see the PTO section below for more information about our Summerstride Color Run Kickoff!! All students should have come home with an envelope to participate in our biggest fundraiser of the school year!

Habit Two: Begin with the End in Mind

September is Attendance Awareness Month!

ALL students and families need to make the PLEDGE to STAY IN THE GAME!!! FC Cincinnati is sponsoring the Stay in the Game initiative again this year, and we are planning to celebrate all students who take this pledge during a whole-school assembly!

Our current attendance rates

Summerside's attendance goal is to have an average daily attendance rate of 95% and to lower our chronic absence rate from 22% to 19% or lower this school year.

Weekend Food Bags

Our mission is to commit to excellence, with every learner, every day, in every way. One way that we can do that is to help provide for your child if there is a need for food at home over the weekend. Thanks to the generosity of local organizations who work to serve our Summerside students, we are able to continue our Weekend Food Bag Program as an option for our students in need for the 2026 - 27 school year. If you are interested in your child receiving a food bag at the end of each week, please complete the linked form below.

IT'S SUMMERSTRIDE TIME with COLOR RUN FUN!

We are excited to kick off our annual Summerstride Walk-a-Thon fundraiser, running Tuesday, September 8–25! Your child will be coming home with a packet and an envelope with their name and homeroom printed on it on Tuesday, September 8.

Envelopes & Donations

Each envelope is labeled with a student’s name—please make sure it goes to the correct child
Families can return cash and check donations in these envelopes.
Families can also collect donations online at: https://app.99pledges.com/fund/summerstride25
If you notice any errors on the website with student names or teacher assignments, please email us at summersidepto@gmail.com so we can correct them.
Spanish translations are available for families who need them.
